Welcome to Mantra Monday!
I am a yoga practitioner. This does not simply mean doing yoga postures or asanas. It has a lot to do with study and reflection.
I spend 1 hour every morning reading from sacred texts and books by wisdom teachers. I set my alarm early, or I “tell myself” before bedtime when I want to rise, so that I can enjoy this leisurely study time while drinking my favorite morning beverage -- coffee with "grass-fed" butter and coconut oil (I'll talk more about the benefits of adding these to your morning cup of coffee in a future blog, so stay tuned!)
It is inevitable that some precious gem surfaces from my reading. And, then I have the opportunity to let it shine while I reflect on the meaning and application to my life.
So, this is what Mantra Monday is all about. What precious jewel has been revealed, and how can I express its beauty and shine?
If there is something to ponder from my reading, that could be something like a mantra. Wikipedia says that a "Mantra" is a sacred utterance, a numinous sound, a syllable, word or phonemes, or group of words in Sanskrit believed by practitioners to have psychological and spiritual powers. A mantra may or may not have syntactic structure or be literal.
And so, this lacuna, this space on Monday, will be filled with some utterance. My intention is that you find it valuable, as its purpose is to benefit you and your day.
