One of the most transformational experiences of my life was the installation of a positive habit that was a game changer for me.
For my 60th birthday, I decided to put into practice some of the ideas I had learned from a book, “Younger Next Year.” The premise was that if you exercise 60 minutes per day, six days a week, you will in fact become, “younger next year”!
My plan was to ride my bike to work and back, do zumba on Tuesdays, Yoga on Wednesdays, and walk the dogs in between. It all totaled up to 60 minutes per day, six days a week.
By the time my 60 days was up, I had lost 26 pounds and gained a new habit. Now, a day rarely goes by that I don’t exercise 60 minutes every day. I feel better. I look better, I am happier! I no longer struggle with my weight. I enjoy healthy foods and, of course, a glass of wine now and then!
It turns out that personal development trainer Robin Sharma advocates the same thing. Do something consistently for 66 days and you will truly “rewire” your “hardware”, and form healthy, LASTING, habits.
